Witness The Funk
So there is a whole lot of controversy at the moment as these guys head out there as people all feel that Witness The Funk is South Africa's very own Rae Sremmurd. I believe otherwise as these guys have made a name for themselves and actually started their own movement. Its amazing how Durban has managed to break into the music scene and start making its own and keeping them there instead of kzn acts having to move to Joburg to pursue their dreams and i salute these guys for switching the scene up a bit and taking it right back to Durban. With catchy lyrics and unforgettable beats, i applaud Aux Cable for his work and the whole of WTF for making use of the beats in a way that entices the people to song along and dance to their tracks. Their hit single Nomusa has done them a lot of justice and it is exactly that skill of bending the rules and not conforming to what others have set is what made these guys very noticeable. Without going any further, how about we just let the music speak for itself and Witness The Funk!!

Copyright Your Shit!!!
As a musician, I cannot help but stress the fact that copyrighting is a basic necessity when it comes to the songs you make. We all know that there's just always that one person who feels that they couldn't have done it better, and then steals your stuff claiming it to be his. In the world we live in today, with people constantly trying to find a loophole and having your own material stolen from you after having worked hard to make it is not a nice feeling.
No matter if you claim you're local, its a matter of time before your song heads out there and since people always work on assumptions, some would assume that you didn't "copyright your shit" and try to take what is rightfully yours, prove them wrong... SAMRO has made it so easy for you Southern Africans yet you still haven't found the need to utilise the resources handed to you on a silver platter? Show them you're proud of your art, copyright your material.
FleezySA
This is actually amazing due to the fact that the hip-hop scene is looking hectic yet Fleezy, a rapper from Pietermaritzburg, is in his form and couldn't care less about what the critics say. With his hit single titled “PhuziJuice” (Which means “Drinking Juice”) causing a scene and giving him major buzz, it is said to be one of the most chilled songs out there as the moment. Featuring O.F.A from his team called HLM Gang; it is safe to say that he chose the right person to feature on the track. Then after, he is featured by Teelley – a former member of the HLM Gang who decided to go solo sometime after the crew was formed - on a song called “DON” on which we hear his crew’s trademark (HLM k’shiph utsotsi for life) just before he mentions his single. Astonishingly, Fleezy is still in school – along with the whole HLM Gang – and with such vibrance, people would even doubt that he can balance his musical life with his academic life. I can say without a doubt that there is a balance indeed when it comes to the case and that we have not heard the last of Fleezy, so stay tuned for more.
